# Tunable kernel parameters in foundationdb

While bringing up the fdb cluster, for improving the performance we may need to tune the kernel parameters in the Ubuntu VM.

In the below kernel modules, what are all parameters do we need to tune in Ubuntu VM’s for each module?

Global and specific filesystem tunables  
Global kernel tunables  
Network tunables

I’m not aware of any centralized/officially blessed set of tunables.

Wavefront did [have a slide in their FDB Summit presentation](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M438R4SlTFE&t=6m23s) with such information though, which is probably a decent starting point.
