Proposed Update
Hello FoundationDB Community,
I’d like to share a proposed update to the official documentation theme, migrating to the Shibuya theme. The pull request for this migration has been submitted:
Why Shibuya?
To help keep the FoundationDB documentation modern and accessible, I proposed refreshing the documentation theme. Shibuya was selected to address several limitations of the previous setup:
- Outdated Existing Theme: The previous Bootstrap theme hasn’t been updated for nearly 4 years, making a refresh long overdue to keep the documentation experience modern and maintainable.
- Modern Three-Column Layout: Most modern documentation themes, including Shibuya, adopt a clean three-column layout, which provides much better organization and is significantly more user-friendly for navigating complex guides and references.
- Dark / Light Mode Support: Unlike the previous Bootstrap theme which only supported light mode by default, Shibuya natively supports both dark and light modes to suit reader preferences and reduce eye strain.
