Availability of Backup V2/Fast Restore in v7.3 release

I found this comment in v7.4 related thread: What's new in FoundationDB 7.4? - #4 by jzhou and was wondering if there is an update on when backup v2/performant restore feature will be backported to v7.3 release. Is there a github issue to follow for backport?

Thanks in advance.

There is no plan to backport this feature to 7.3 release. At this stage, 7.3 only accepts bug fixes and is the only supported major release version.

I see. Do you have any estimate on when next major supported version will be released? And if this feature is planned in that release?

The current restore v1 process is too slow for my production use case.

Unfortunately restore for backup V2 will not be faster than V1, because “fast restore” feature is going to be deprecated and replaced by future bulk loading feature. So backup V2 will still be restored with the same mechanism as V1. Future FDB release 8.0 will be the time restore speed can be significantly improved. See https://medium.com/@jingyuzhou/why-foundationdb-restore-is-slow-and-what-can-be-done-about-it-e73a821fdd33 for explanations.

Are you planning to have the bulk load to work for the sqlite backend ?

yes, bulk load will support all storage engines (including SQLite) via logic ingestion, i.e., writing through storage engine APIs. In the future, physical ingestion (i.e., sst file ingestion) will be considered if the storage engine supports it.
